Sri Narendra Modi,
Honorable Prime Minister, Government of India.
7, Race Course Road, New Delhi.
Subject : Proposals ( two such ) to commemorate the 125th Birth Anniversary of Netaji
Subhas Chandra Bose.
Respected Sir,
On the memorable occasion of the 125th Birth Anniversary of the legendary Freedom Fighter
Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, being celebrated in India by the National Committee under your
esteemed leadership, this Association of the alumni of the University of North Bengal, District
Darjeeling, West Bengal has resolved to submit the following Proposals for your kind
consideration.
1. That a Statue of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose be installed at the India Gate Canopy at
the heart of New Delhi. There lies an empty Canopy, where once stood the statue of
King GeorgeV, near India Gate adjoining the War Memorial to our Soldiers. The location
is situated on Rajpath, about 150 meters east of India Gate. There exists one 73 foot
Cupola, inspired by a sixth-century pavilion from Mahabalipuram. The canopy was
constructed in 1936 and had a statue of King George V, which was removed in 1968 and
the site is vacant since then.
2. That the Birth Day of the legendary Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose be declared as a
National Holiday to enable the countrymen to commemorate the occasion and be
inspired by the noble ideals left behind by one of the greatest sons of India.
Sir, we recall your statement made on January 23,2021 while declaring the Parakram Diwas that “India’s Nationalism is inspired by ideals of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose”. You had also quoted Netaji that “ India’s Nationalism is neither narrow nor selfish and not even aggressive. This is inspired by the values of Satyam Shivam Sundaram”.
We appeal to you to kindly approve the above two humble Proposals for which the country will remain ever indebted to you.
With our best regards,
Yours Sincerely.
Signed /-
