Appeal to the Vice-Chancellor, NBU for Covid Treatment Facilities in NBU Campus.
Date : 29/04/2021
Professor Subiresh Bhattacharjee,
Honourable Vice-Chancellor,
University of North Bengal.
Sub. : Arrangement of Covid treatment facilities in NBU Campus
Respected Sir,
In view of the terrible upsurge of Covid Virus infections among the dwellers within the NBU Campus and acute shortage of facilities in Govt./Private Hospitals, I am to place the following proposal, on behalf of the NBU Alumni Association, for your sympathetic consideration.
That the University Health Centre be immediately upgraded to provide for one Covid Unit dedicated for treatment by competent Doctors towards infected employees and/or their family members, research scholars and NBU Alumni in adjoining areas. The Health Centre already has the minimum physical and human infrastructure including Doctor, Pharmacist, Attendant, pathology lab and oxygen cylinders and a little effort to upscale the facilities may not be that difficult. In addition to this, you may kindly consider whether the Guest House annexe and the HRDC Hostel could be used as “Safe Isolation Home”. It is noted that during the first covid phase in the last year, these buildings were allowed to be used to accommodate front line health workers in Govt Service for several months without causing any danger to the campus inmates. The above support from your end will be acknowledged and remembered by the larger society as a remarkable compassionate and humanitarian approach to help the suffering community.
It is also emphasized that a percentage of the beds may kindly be provided to the Alumni of NBU, many of whom reside in the neighborhood and are dying for want of treatment and help in this period of unimaginable crisis. With best regards,
Yours Sincerely,
( Dr.T.K.Chatterjee)
Secretary, NBU Alumni Association.
